More Celebrity Lookalikes

Susan Boyle and Flat Top from Dick Tracy.

I'm still not sure whether or not I can call her a celebrity. It seems odd that in the amount of time it takes to hand-plow 2.2 hectares of land, a person can become known in 95% of the modern world. Flat Top was a badass character from that movie with Madonna and the weird looking kid from What About Bob and Hook, one of the greatest movies ever made in my opinion.

A Treatise on Puncuation

Punctuation is awesome because there are so many different ways to manipulate how people read something that you just wrote. For example, take the question mark '?'. When reading something with a question mark placed at the end, I always finish the sentence with a rising tone while I'm reading it in my head. Here are some more examples of cool punctuation.

The double question mark '??' is used when you want to make the question that someone asked seem more imperative or even rushed.

Use the compound question mark '?!' if you want to automatically make a person seem crazy or confused.

The colon ':' is sophisticated. Only English majors and editors know exactly when to use it, which I guess makes the semi-colon ';' only semi-sophisticated.

The ampersand '&' is for lazy people and companies looking to save money on neon signs by avoiding the two extra characters in order to say the same thing.

I sometimes use a double-period '..' if I want to trail off a thought instead of ending abruptly with a single period. I think it's pretty useful..

The dash -- is probably the rudest of all punctuation marks. You use it when you want to completely interrupt a train of thought and add information into a sentence. It's like your asshole friend who keeps interrupting you while you're telling a story so they can include minute details you chose to exclude.

There is a host of other useful forms of punctuation yet to be discovered or implemented. I will post more of them when I imagine them up.

Alabama Reading Test

Some dude showed me this the other day at a bar. If it weren't so exceptionally funny, I wouldn't have bothered sharing it. See if you can pass the test.

Japanese Riddle

I fed an excerpt of English lyrics from a popular oldie from the 80s into a Japanese translation machine. Then I took the Japanese and recycled it back into an English translation machine. The result is pretty interesting.

Can anyone guess what song this is?

All take a breath
To move all
Break the bond of all
Each time step
I will see you.
Every day
Say all the words
Play All Games
Night stay
I will see you.
